Anyone know of a source for these. I don't want the standard shaped buttons and I don't want black metal. Any ideas? |

Paul, I just got a set of (21:1) 510's gold with "black" buttons (not ebony) from Shane. They're lovely. LMI has them too, but more expensive. |

Hey Paul, I can get any Gotoh product you need. If my suppier has them in stock then I can get them quite fast, if not then it will about 2 weeks to me from Japan. Just yesterday I put an order into Japan for some slot head sets that I want to have a look at and if they are as I hope they are I will put those models up for sale. So if you let me know what you want, I will get you a price and a delivery date. Shane |

There's a guy from Taiwan on ebay who does a lot of gaudy inlay. He sells buttons that could be drilled and used. Horn, ebony etc. I made my own out of Blackwood for the Gotohs on a uke I made. They're all just slightly different as they're mostly made with handtools, but I like the slight inconsistency as it adds to the "handmade" flavor |

Paul, Here are a couple of resources: Guitar Parts Resource and THG Knobs They are ridiculously expensive (and leave a huge niche for some enterprising luthier to do in his/her "spare" time) {hint, hint}, but if you have a client willing to pay that price at least you can get them if you want them. Shane--Great to hear that you have a direct connection with Gotoh! Maybe you can get me some longer nuts for the 510/Delta that will accomodate the headstock thickness. The standard ones are about a 1/16" too short for a .687 thickness at the front pair of tuners. Thought about making my own but then they would need to be gold plated. I get by with thinning the hex head on the nut and also thinning the washer slightly but it's a pain. I believe the nut and washer is identical on the 510's as well as the 510 Deltas. Nelson |

I'll be John W. could digitize and CNC reproduce buttons for about any tuner. Are you there, John? Nelson |

Nelson, Can you e-mail a picture so I am sure what you are talking about? I think I know, but I am unsure that they make a longer nut, although I will check! Shane |

Nelson, I just talked to my Gotoh Rep, he will find out about you extra length nut sin gold. They are all metric so I said that you would like 1.5mm longer. Right!? Thanks Shane |

Shane--Yes, 1.5mm would be great. This is the 10mm hex nut that goes over the tuner shaft and secures the tuner in the headstock hole. The nut would be long enough as is but the tuner body female thread is counterbored about 1/16" deep, probably to make it easier to align the thread when assembling. Thanks Nelson |

Shane--While your at it, some gold plated washers about 1/8" diameter larger would sure be nice to minimize finish damage when tightening the nut. Nelson |
